The sixth-ranked women's water polo team beat No. 7 Whittier 16-1 March 6 in the third game of the Cal Lutheran Spring Classic. Behind four goals from junior center Nikki Unbehaun, the Sun Devils (9-5, 0-0) coasted to their third consecutive win.
ASU continued to be aggressive after scoring six goals in the first frame, netting four goals in both the second and third quarter. The Sun Devils added a pair of goals in the final stanza to come away with a 15-goal victory.
Four Sun Devil attackers scored two goals against the Poets, including freshman Shannon Haas, juniors Lynlee Smith and Sarah Harris, and sophomore Mariam Salloum. Senior goalie Taylor Greenberg made 15 saves and allowed just one goal in her first action of the season.
The Sun Devils take on CS Monterey Bay at 9:45 a.m. (PST) March 7 at Samuelson Aquatic Center in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
