The ninth-ranked water polo team was defeated 7-6 by No. 5 UCLA Feb. 7 in the third game of the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. It was the third straight game against a top-five opponent for the Sun Devils in the past two days.
ASU was tied with the Bruins at halftime after netting one goal in the first quarter and three in the second. Outscored 2-0 in the third frame, the Sun Devils added a pair of goals in the fourth, but lost 7-6 after also allowing a Bruins score.
Attackers sophomore Kelsey White, junior Sarah Harris and senior Bonnie Miles scored a pair of goals each for ASU. Sophomore goalie Dana Harvey collected six saves in the game.
The Sun Devils will face No. 7 San Jose State in the 7th place game at 12:45 p.m. (PST) Feb. 7.
