The Sun Devils finished the first round of match play tied with Duke, but due to the tiebreaker, the Blue Devils advanced in the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship. Playing in the consolation bracket as the No. 9 seed, ASU was upset by the No. 16 seed Blue Devils 2-2-1, with Duke taking the tiebreaker 10-6.
Stephan Gross halved Adam Long of Duke, while Jesper Kennegard both won their matches. Borsheim defeated Spencer Anderson 2 and 1 and Kennegard beat Wes Raoch 4 and 2. Tristan Bierenbroodspot lost 6 and 5 to Clark Klaasen and Spencer Fletcher fell to Michael Quigliano 4 and 2.
Arizona State will face No. 13 seed Charlotte later today in the next round of the Match Play Championship. Live scoring of the match can be found at golfstat.com.
