SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No. 8 Arizona State University water polo team lost 11-8 to No. 7 San Diego State on Saturday. The Sun Devils are now 13-12 overall on the season, and they finish 0-7 in the MPSF regular season.

Junior Kelly Phelps led the ASU offense with three goals, her fourth consecutive game with multiple goals. Sophomore Lynlee Smith added two goals, while senior Addison McGrath, sophomore Nikki Unbehaun and freshmen Mariam Salloum all had a goal apiece in the game. Sophomore goalie Kaitlyn Morris had five saves in the cage.

The Aztecs took a one-goal lead after the first quarter, but the Sun Devils rallied to tie the game at 5-5 heading into the intermission. However, San Diego State would pull back ahead by one at the end of the third, and then would put the game away by outscoring ASU 3-1 in the final frame to secure the three-goal victory.

The Sun Devils will now have a week off from competition before heading to Honolulu, Hawai'i for the MPSF Championships on April 24-26. ASU will be the eighth seed, drawing the conference's regular season champion in the opening round.
