IRVINE, Calif. - Sophomore Lynlee Smith scored four goals as the No. 10 Arizona State University water polo team defeated No. 7 UC Davis 9-6 on Saturday at the UC Irvine Invitational. The Sun Devils improve to 8-3 on the season with the win, while the Aggies fall to 9-4.

Smith's four goals marked the fourth time this season that she has scored three or more goals in a game, and she has scored at least one goal in 10 of the team's 11 games on the year thus far.

Freshman Bella Morrison all had one goal each. Freshman goalie Dana Harvey collected 10 saves in the win.

The Sun Devils jumped on the Aggies early, taking a 4-1 lead after the first quarter, and they maintained the three-goal advantage at the half. They extended the lead to 6-2 after three quarters before going on to the 9-6 victory.

ASU now will face No. 1 USC (8-0) at 2 p.m. PT on Saturday to determine the winner of Bracket A of the UC Irvine Invitational. The Trojans defeated No. 19 UC Santa Barbara 16-3 in their opening game of the tournament.
