TEMPE, Ariz. - After allowing a leadoff homer on the first pitch of the game, Josh Satow settled down and threw six fantastic innings, leading #3 Arizona State to an 11-4 victory over Washington in front of 3,291 at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark. Arizona State improves to 43-9 on the year, 14-6 in Pac-10 play.

Satow improved to 7-3 on the year, allowing one run on six hits and fanning four in the win. Tommy Rafferty recorded the final seven outs to pick up his fourth save of the season.

After falling behind 10-0 last night, the Huskies got off to a much better start on Saturday. Andy Lentz led off the game with a solo homer to right center on the first pitch of the game from Satow, putting UW up 1-0.

Raoul Torrez put the Devils up 2-1 in the second, tripling to right field to score Petey Paramore and Kiel Roling. Greg Bordes brought Torrez home with a double down the right field line to make it 3-1.

Kiel Roling added to the lead in the sixth, launching his seventh homer of the year over the left field fence for a 4-1 ASU lead. Jason Kipnis would tack on three more, blasting his 12th homer of the season to make it 7-1.

Washington closed the gap in the seventh, scoring three runs off Jason Franzblau and Stephen Sauer before Rafferty was able to end the threat. A Matt Newman sac fly in the bottom of the seventh would push the lead to 8-4.

The Devils flexed their muscles in the bottom of the eighth, adding four insurance runs. Ryan Sontag hit a solo homer left center to push it to a 9-4 lead. It was his third round-tripper of the year.

After Jason Kipnis followed the Sontag homer with a single to right, Washington brought in lefty Josh Scofield to face Brett Wallace. Wallace welcomed Scofield to the game by belting his 18th home run of the season to give ASU an 11-4 edge. Rafferty got the final three outs in the ninth to seal the win.

Sontag, Kipnis and Greg Bordes each collected two hits, with Kipnis driving in three runs. Wallace and Torrez each had two RBI in the win. Petey Paramore was 1-2 with three bases on balls.

The Devils and Huskies will wrap up the series tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.
