The ASU Men's golf team sits in eleventh place after the first round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship. The Sun Devils shot a 10-over 298 in a round that saw only one team shoot under par. Scott Pinckney leads the team and is tied for sixth with a 2-under 70 after the first round. USC is in the team lead with a 3-under 285. Defending champion UCLA is in tied for second with an even par 288. Joining them in second is host UNLV who also shot an even par 288. Jonas Enander Hedin of Charlotte and Matt Kinsinger of UNLV are tied for the lead with 4-under 68's.

Sophomore Jesper Kennegard all shot 4-over 76 and sit tied for 43rd. Freshman Stephen Gross is tied for 60th with a 7-over 79.
