, - While the bottom end of the line-up rallied back, the No. 8 Cal Bears were too strong for the No. 13 ASU Women's Tennis Team Friday afternoon as the Sun Devils fell 5-2 in . ASU is now 8-2 overall as they head to Stanford for a match-up against No. 6 Stanford tomorrow.

In doubles, both teams came out fighting hard, with Stephanie Kusano and Susie Babos of breaking out to a strong lead at the No. 1 spot against Laila Abdala and Nadia Abdala, to eventually win 8-1. At No. 2, the Devils retaliated when seniors Jessica Leitch and Wendy Pilecka knocked off Rachael Dillon and Marina Cossou 8-4. With the doubles tied at 1-1, the pressure was on both teams to win at No. 3, but Christina Visico and Daron Moore of prevailed against freshmen Kelcy McKenna and Ashlee Brown 9-8, even after the Devils saved three match points.

In singles, dominated early and was able to win the first sets in five of the six singles matches. The Devils made surges in their second sets but the Golden Bears didn't let up, scoring wins at No. 2 and No. 4 to go up 3-0 before the Devils scored their first point when Leitch beat Dillon 6-2 6-2 at the No. 5 spot. The match victory was sealed for the Golden Bears when Visico defeated L. Abdala at No. 3 in a straight set victory, 6-3 6-3. Cossou added the fifth point for , defeating N. Abdala 6-3 6-2 at No.1. With the match already decided, Pilecka pulled off a come-from-behind victory at No. 6 against Moore 4-6 6-4 1-0(10-6), boosting the Devils to win the last match of the day.   

ASU takes on the No. 6 Stanford Cardinal tomorrow at noon in Last year ASU fell twice to Stanford, 4-3 and 5-2.
