SEATTLE, Wash. - While Kelcy McKenna kept her winning streak alive at 15 straight singles and doubles wins, the 12th-ranked ASU Women's Tennis Team was unable to handle their host, the 49th-ranked Huskies of Washington as they fell 4-3 on the day. The Sun Devils are now 13-5 overall and 4-2 in Pac-10 play as UW rises to 12-8 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
The Sun Devils came out strong in doubles as Wendy Pilecka and Lauren Megale led them to taking the point with an 8-3 win over Aleksandra Malovic and Melinda Wong before Kelcy McKenna and Micaela Hein took the point with an 8-3 win in the No. 2 spot.
The Huskies came out firing in singles though as they took the first win in the three spot before Aleksandra Krsljanin 6-2, 6-2 to bump ASU ahead 2-1. The Huskies tied it again as they took the win at No. 5 before Kelcy McKenna took the win in the No. 2 spot to give ASU the lead again.
That was it on the day for the Devils though as Washington stormed back to take the last two matches with Venise Chan topping Nadia Abdala in a tough three set tiebreaker to seal the match.
The Sun Devils will remain on the road next weekend as they head to Los Angeles to take on UCLA and USC on April 11 and 12.
