LONG BEACH, Calif. - Caylinn Wallace made 15 saves for the second game in a row and Addison McGrath scored four goals to lead the No. 8 Arizona State University water polo team to a 9-6 victory over No. 13 Long Beach State Sunday in Long Beach, Calif. The Sun Devils improved to 12-9 overall and 2-4 in the MPSF while the 49ers fell to 8-9 overall and 3-3 in the MPSF.
The Sun Devils took an early 2-0 lead through the first quarter of play before the 49ers tied the game at the half, 3-3. The Sun Devils then used a 4-1 third quarter for a 7-4 lead before both teams scored twice more in the final quarter for the 9-6 final.
McGrath was joined in the scoring column by Katy Lawlor, who scored twice, while Traci Aparicio, Bonnie Miles and Kelly Phelps each scored once.
ASU will play one game this upcoming weekend as it will play host to No. 3 California at noon on March 15.
