TEMPE, Ariz. - No. 1 Arizona State remained unbeaten with an 8-1 win over Troy Saturday night in front of a crowd of 2,785 at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark. The Sun Devils are now 16-0 on the season with the victory.
Troy got on the board first in the fourth inning when designated hitter Michael Precise scored on a fielder's choice, but the Sun Devils answered in the bottom half of the inning with an Ike Davis two-run homer to right.
ASU added three more in the fifth with an RBI double by third baseman Brett Wallace and a two-run homer to right center by catcher Petey Paramore.
Paramore drove in another run with a single in the seventh, and Davis then hit his second homer of the game, another two-run shot to right, to finish off the scoring.
This was Davis' third multi-homer game of the season, with all of them coming in the past seven days.
Junior Reyes Dorado pitched 3.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn the victory and improve to 3-0 on the season. Freshman Seth Blair started and went 3.1 innings, allowing two hits and one run, but he did not factor in the decision.
Wallace and Davis each had three hits and Paramore added two hits to lead the ASU offense.
The Sun Devils finish up their three-game series with Troy tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.
