TEMPE, Ariz. - Katy Lawlor scored three goals and six others scored at least once to help the No. 8 Arizona State University water polo team to a 12-8 defeat of No. 12 Long Beach State Saturday in the UC Irvine Invitational at Corona del Mar High School in Irvine, Calif. The Sun Devils improved to 10-6 on the year with the victory.

ASU led from start to finish, jumping out to a 3-1 lead through one quarter of play before extending its lead to 6-3 at the intermission. From there, both teams scored three in the third to keep the margin at three goals for ASU before the Sun Devils won the fourth quarter, 3-2, for a 12-8 victory.

Lawlor was joined in the scoring column by Lauren Hayes, Bonnie Miles and Nikki Unbehaun, each of which scored a pair of goals in the game. Also scoring for the Sun Devils were Traci Aparicio, Kelly Phelps and Amanda Stepp. Defensively, Caylinn Wallace made 10 saves in the victory.

The Sun Devils will now face No. 6 San Diego State later today to determine ninth place in the tournament.
