RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Kelly Phelps recorded her second career hat trick and nine total players scored at least one goal as the No. 11 Arizona State University water polo team defeated host Cal Baptist, 11-4, Saturday afternoon in the Lancer Invitational in Riverside, Calif. The victory, ASU's fifth in a row, improved the Sun Devils' record to 5-1 on the year while the Lancers slipped to 2-1.

Phelps was the only player in the game to record more than one goal as her three-goal performance marked just the second time in her career that she has posted a hat trick with the first coming last year against No. 9 UC Irvine in the MPSF Championships. She was joined in the scoring column by Traci Aparicio, Lauren Hayes, Katy Lawlor, Addison McGrath, Bonnie Miles, Amanda Stepp, Kristin Wagner and Kari Walsh.

Senior goalie Caylinn Wallace played strong in the cage again as she stopped 16 shots for the third time this season. She also held the opponent scoreless throughout the first half of play for the second game in a row, not allowing a goal until the third quarter of play.

The Sun Devils scored four goals in each of the first two quarters and held an 8-0 lead at the intermission. After the Lancers scored twice to open the third quarter, the Sun Devils scored twice in a row before closing out the game exchanging goals with the hosts for the 11-4 final.

ASU closes out the day with a 2 p.m. contest with first-year program Concordia (Calif.).
