Tucson, Ariz. - Led by individual medalist Niklas Lemke, the Arizona State men's golf team earned their first tournament victory of the season. ASU finished in first place, at the 2007 National Invitational Tournament, after shooting a 24-under 840 (287-279-274).
Senior All-American Niklas Lemke captured his second tournament victory of the year, as well. Lemke shot a 9-under 207 (74-66-67) for the three-round tournament to place first. Lemke had previously won the Illini Invitational in the fall season.
Sophomore All-American Benjamin Alvarado Holley shot an 8-under 208 (69-70-69), one stroke off the leader, to tie for second place. Freshman Knut Borsheim finished strong, shooting a 4-under 68 in the final round to card a three-round total of a 3-under 213 (70-75-68). Sophomore Steele DeWald recorded an even-par 216 (75-71-70) for the three-round event. Senior Fredrik Andersson shot a 3-over 219 (74-72-73) in three round of play.
Next up, the Sun Devils return to Tempe, Ariz., to host the 2007 Thunderbird Invitational at ASU Karsten Golf Course.
