PALO ALTO, Calif. - The top-ranked Stanford Women's Tennis team proved to be too much for the No. 19 Sun Devils Saturday afternoon as ASU fell 5-2 to the No. 1 Cardinal. The loss drops ASU to 9-7 on the season and 2-2 in conference play, while Stanford stands at 15-1 and 3-0 in conference play.

The Sun Devils saw themselves off to a slow start as the Cardinal came out to sweep doubles as ninth-ranked duo of Roxanne Clarke and Kady Pooler fell to #34 Lindsay Burdette and Anne Yelsey 8-4.

In singles, the Cardinal ran off four straight matches in the 1-4 spots before senior Rebecca Rankin took one back as she topped 48th-ranked Lindsay Burdette 7-6, 3-6, 3-2 (DNF) in the five spot to give ASU their first point.

The Sun Devils will return to action next weekend as they play host to Pac-10 foes UCLA and USC in Tempe at the Whiteman Tennis Center. The Sun Devils will face the Bruins on Friday, April 6 at 1:30 p.m. and the Trojans on Saturday, March 7 at noon.
