TEMPE, Ariz. - Four members of the Arizona State University track and field team competed at the Stanford Invitational Friday afternoon with one Sun Devil regionally qualifying in her event as the meet completed the first of two days in Palo Alto, Calif. In all, three Sun Devils ran the 5,000m race while one other competed in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Kari Hardt, a true freshman, finished fourth in the third section of the women's 5,000m race, clocking in at 16:47.64, just below the 16:50.00 barrier established to qualify for the regional race. Teammate Angela Spadafino ran in the women's 5,000m run section four, placing ninth in 17:15.75.
On the men's side, David Mehlhorn placed 12th in the fourth section of the 3,000m steeplechase, clocking in at 9:23.39 while Eric Dall placed 20th in the third section of the men's 5,000m run in 14:26.57.
Several more Sun Devils will compete in the Stanford Invitational Saturday afternoon while 39 other members of the program will head to Tucson for the Arizona International.
