TEMPE, Ariz. - After exploding for 20 runs on Friday night and 18 yesterday, the ASU offense continued their onslaught on Sunday afternoon in the finale of the three-game series with Southern Utah, sweeping the Thunderbirds 23-3 in front of 2,707 at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark. ASU improves to 3-0 on the young season.

LHP Joey Parigi, who transferred to ASU from Texas, got his first win as a Sun Devil. Parigi, pitching on a pitch count, went four innings, striking out six and allowing only one earned run.

Matt Spencer, who came to ASU from North Carolina, continued his stellar debut weekend in maroon and gold. He went 3-4, including a monster grand slam off the green monster in dead center, part of his six RBI afternoon. Spencer now was 13 RBI in three games. Kiel Roling got into the long ball act as well, homering to the exact same spot as Spencer to score three. Roling went 3-4 with four RBI.

Spencer and Roling were two of six Devils to record two or more hits, and five Devils to knock in two or more runs.

The Sun Devils outscored the Thunderbirds 61-8 on the weekend to pick up the sweep. Ike Davis had nine hits over the three games (9-11), tops on the team, and added six RBI. Brett Wallace added eight hits for the Devils. Roling hit two homers over the weekend and drove in eight runs.

The Sun Devils now head to Houston, Texas to participate in the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park. The Devils take on Texas A&M on Friday, Vanderbilt on Saturday and Houston on Sunday.
