TEMPE, Ariz. - A night after scoring twenty runs, many were wondering if the Sun Devil offense had anything left. They answered that question with a resounding yes, scoring 18 runs and pounding out 22 hits in an 18-4 victory over Southern Utah. ASU improves to 2-0 on the young season in front of 3,127 fans at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.

The win on Saturday marked the 800th career Division I victory for head coach Pat Murphy, 482 of which have come as head coach at Arizona State.

Junior LHP Josh Satow got the call on the mound for the Devils. Satow threw five solid innings, striking out seven hitters to pick up his first win of the year. He allowed three runs, only one earned, on five hits. Ike Davis had a stellar afternoon at the plate, going 4-5 and knocking in four runs. Brett Wallace added three hits, as did Matt Spencer in the win.

The Sun Devils jumped on the Thunderbirds early for the second straight game, scoring two in the first one, one in the second and two in the third before exploding for 11 runs in the fourth. ASU scored nine in the fourth inning last night.

Seven Devils had multiple hits, while six had at least two RBI. Kiel Roling and Jarred Bogany each hit their first home runs as Sun Devils, while Ike Davis upped his season RBI total to six.

The Devils and Thunderbirds close out the three game series tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.
