ARIZONA STATE NOTES
• Going Deep: QB Rudy Carpenter and WR Michael Jones connected on a 64-yard pass play for a touchdown early in the second quarter, marking the longest completion of the season for Carpenter as well as the longest reception of Jones' career. Carpenter's previous best came on a 35-yard strike to WR Kyle Williams against San Jose State while Jones' career long had been his 50-yard touchdown grab against Washington State in 2006. Carpenter would later go on to complete two more passes of 40-plus yards.

• 300 Club: QB Rudy Carpenter finished the game with 361 yards on 25-of-36 passing with four touchdowns and one interception, giving him eight career 300-yard-plus games in his career, the most among active signal-callers in the Pac-10. Carpenter's four touchdown passes are the most for the junior since he connected on five against Nevada last year in Tempe. For his career, Carpenter has 51 touchdown passes and moved into fourth on the all-time list, surpassing Mike Pagel (1978-81) and his 48 scores. Next on the list is No. 3 Danny White (1971-73) who connected on 64 passes.

• Catching On: WR Michael Jones hauled in a 43-yard pass from QB Rudy Carpenter in the third quarter for his second touchdown of the game, giving him his second two-score game of the season and his career. Jones, who entered the season with three career touchdowns (all in 2006), now has five TDs in 2007, including one against San Jose State in the opener and two against Colorado.

• Century Mark: WR Michael Jones not only had a big day scoring for the Sun Devils, he also had a career day in yardage, recording his first 100-yard game. Jones proved to be a deep threat as he pulled down four passes for 124 yards, including receptions of 64 and 43 yards for touchdowns.

• Take Away: For the fourth game in a row this, the Sun Devil defense intercepted the opposing quarterback at least once and finished the game with five picks. The interception total is the most in a single game since ASU's 55-22 defeat of California on November 7, 1998. LB Robert James picked Oregon State's QB Sean Canfield twice while S Troy Nolan (second and third of the year) and CB Justin Tryon (first) each picked off passes from Canfield.

• Eight-Second Drives: Arizona State stormed back in quick fashion in the third quarter, scoring a pair of touchdowns on single-play drives. Trailing 26-13, QB Rudy Carpenter hit WR Mike Jones on a 43-yard pass play for a touchdown, resulting in a drive of 1-play for 43-yards and lasting 8-seconds. Two possessions later, Carpenter hit TB Ryan Torain on a 48-yard pass play for a touchdown, making the drive 1-play for 48-yards and lasting 8-seconds.

• Over 40: Trailing 19-0, the Sun Devils went to the big-plays to mount their comeback and did so on the strength of four plays of 40-yards or more in the game. ASU scored touchdowns on passing plays of 64, 48 and 43 while adding a run of 41 from TB Ryan Torain.

• Series Records: Both starting quarterbacks threw for over 300 yards in the game, ranking them among the top performances in the history of the ASU-OSU series. Sun Devil Rudy Carpenter's 361 passing yards are the third-most in the series, behind only Derek Anderson (OSU), who had 384 in 2004, and Sam Keller (ASU), who had 365 in 2005. Sean Canfield's total of 324 yards ranks fifth all-time in the series.

• Hash Marks: Arizona State shut out its opponent in the second quarter for the third time this season, allowing only one touchdown to San Diego State last week ... ASU failed to score in the first quarter for only the second time this year (against Colorado). The Sun Devils have scored in all but three quarters this year with no points scored in the fourth quarter against Colorado.
