Fort Worth, Texas - The Arizona State soccer team shut out TCU Sunday, 2-0, in Fort Worth, Texas. The Sun Devils climb to 4-2-0 on the season, as the Horned Frogs drop their first match at home and fall to 3-3-0 overall.
In front of a crowd of 860, the Sun Devils took control of the game and found themselves up 1-0 at the half.
"We played well in the first half," head coach Kevin Boyd said. "We dominated the play and should have scored three or four times. Everyone who subbed in contributed and improved our team."
The first goal came off a corner kick for ASU as senior Kyleyn Felts came up with the ball and cracked it in to the upper corner of the net. The game-winner was the first goal for Felts this season and the third overall of her career.
The Horned Frogs upped their pressure in the second half, but the Devils were able to hold them off, while also tabbing another goal.
In the 64th minute of play, sophomore Dante Perea slipped the ball past a TCU defender and found senior Lauren Niblett, who deflected the ball off a defender and into the net. The goal marked the first for Niblett on the season and the second overall of her career. The assist was the first for Perea on the year.
Overall, Arizona State took 25 shots to only seven by TCU, and five corner kicks to two by the Horned Frogs.
Sophomore goalkeeper Briana Silvestri had two saves in the third shutout of her career as a Sun Devil.
