BERKELEY, Calif. - The No. 8 Arizona State University water polo team saw its five game winning streak halted Saturday afternoon at No. 6 California as the host Golden Bears downed the visiting Sun Devils, 17-8, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) contest in Berkeley, Calif. The Sun Devils slipped to 10-11 overall and 3-6 in the league with the loss.
Katie Hedley led the team in scoring with three goals while both Ashley Bower and Amanda Stepp added two goals each. Addison Doud added the final score for the Sun Devils. Windy Ballejos got her second start in the cage for ASU and recorded three saves in the loss.
ASU will play host to its final regular season home games of the season next weekend as Long Beach State (Saturday at noon) and UC Irvine (Sunday at noon) come to town for MPSF action at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.
