PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The top-ranked Arizona State women's golf team finished in third place on Saturday in a tri-match played against No. 7 Southern California and No. 11 UCLA at the Trump National Golf Club in Palos Verdes, Calif. Played under Modified Stableford scoring format, UCLA took the top spot with 89 points, USC was second with 62 points and the Sun Devils scored 38 points.

The scoring system that was used awarded players six points for an eagle, three for a birdie, one for a par, minus one for a bogey and minus two for a double bogey or worse. Leading ASU in Saturday's tri-match was freshman Anna Nordqvist, who tallied 21 points, which was the third-highest total of all the golfers competing. Also finishing among the point leaders was sophomore All-American Jennifer Osborn, who had 18 points, which was fourth most among the competitors.

UCLA's Tiffany Joh was the individual champion for the day, finishing with 25 points.

ASU and USC also had additional competitors competing against one another in match play format. The two schools would split the two matches as ASU's Liisa Kelo defeated Stephanie Hickerson of USC 2UP and Shelcie Takenouchi of USC defeated Brooke Todare of ASU 1Up after 20 holes.

Saturday's event was the last of the regular season for ASU. The Sun Devils will now set their sights on winning their fourth consecutive tournament when they travel to Seattle, Wash., next week (Apr. 23-25) for the 2007 Pac-10 Championships. ASU will look to go one step further at Pac-10s after a pair of runner-up finishes the last two seasons.

Following the conference event the Sun Devils will next travel to one of three sites for the NCAA Regional Championship (May 10-12). The season will then conclude with the NCAA Championships, which will be taking place May 22-25 in Daytona Beach, Fla. ASU has record top-10 finishes each of the last three seasons, including a fourth-place finish at last year's NCAAs.
