TEMPE, Ariz. - Day two of the ASU's Kajikawa Classic rolled on Saturday, where the ASU Sun Devils were able to push their record to 6-0 on the season as they topped the Wisconsin Badgers 2-0 and the Western Michigan Broncos 6-2 in the final two games of the day.
Led by Katie Burkhart's 16 strikeouts, the Sun Devils were able to top the Badgers 2-0, first striking in the third with Bianca Cruz stepping up with the bases loaded to hit a single into center to bring home Kristen Miller. ASU struck again in the sixth to tack on another run as the Sun Devils shut out the Sun Devils to bring their series history to a perfect 4-0. ASU has never allowed Wisconsin to score in their four meetings since 1994.
The nightcap saw the Sun Devil offense wake up as they grabbed a run in the first before catching fire in the in the second rattling off five runs as a lead-off double from Caylyn Carlson was brought home by Ashley Muenz before Heidi Knabe dug in to launch a two-run shot over center field.
The Sun Devils are now 6-0 on the season heading into the final day of the Kajikawa Classic where ASU will face Ohio State and Long Beach State at 11:00 a.m. and 1 p.m. tomorrow at ASU's Farrington Stadium.
