Daytona Beach, Fla. - After the first round of play at the 2006 Golf Daytona Beach Women's Fall Preview, the second-ranked Arizona State University women's golf team is currently in fourth place. ASU shoot a 12-over 300. Competition is currently led by Georgia, which shot a 1-over 289.

"We had an average start," said Head Coach Melissa Luellen. "Our scores were high overall. All teams struggled except for one. We have an 11-shot deficit, but two days to make it up. Once the girls get used to the course we'll get better."

Sun Devils Jennifer Osborn and Anna Nordqvist lead ASU tied for eighth place after shooting a 1-over 73 for the first round. Freshman Juliana Murcia and sophomore Azahara Munoz shot a 5-over 77 to tie for 35th. Junior Camila Sola, playing in her first tournament of the season, shot a 12-over 84 to tie for 79th.

The second round of play continues tomorrow at the 6,984-yard LPGA International's Legends Course. The LPGA International's Legends Course will also be the home of the 2007 NCAA Division I Women's Golf National Championship, May 22-25, 2007.

"It is a challenging course," said Luellen. "We feel we didn't play that great and to be in fourth place is a really good deal. We are looking forward to tomorrow."
