SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Emily Westerberg had 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 13 Arizona State to an 81-66 win over Gonzaga on Wednesday night.
Kirsten Thompson scored 16 points on 8-for-11 shooting for Arizona State (8-1). Dymond Simon added 14 points.
Stephanie Hawk led Gonzaga (6-5) with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Michelle Elliott added 13 points.
Hawk, who leads Gonzaga with 15.0 points per game, was held scoreless in the first half. Arizona State built a 36-26 lead at the half and was never threatened after that.
Both teams had four players with 10 or more points, but Gonzaga turned over the ball 27 times. Arizona State had 13 turnovers.
The Sun Devils and Bulldogs shot the ball well after slow starts. ASU hit 47 percent from the field, including 56 percent on 3-pointers. Gonzaga shot 45 percent from the floor, 40 percent from 3-point range.
ASU senior co-captain Aubree Johnson returned to the starting lineup in her first game since her 15-year-old brother, Jordan, died in his sleep after watching the Sun Devils play in a tournament last month. Johnson had four points, three rebounds and two steals in 21 minutes.
