TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Derek Glasser scored 13 of a season-high 16 in the second half to lead Arizona State past North Carolina A&T 71-66 Thursday in the first round of the Arizona State Classic.

Antwi Atuahene scored 18 points and a career-high 11 rebounds for the Sun Devils, who made 23 of 55 from the field and 13 of 23 from the free throw line.

Jeff Pendergraph scored six points during a 12-2 run that gave the Sun Devils (6-4) a 46-41 lead with 14:13 to play.

Jason Wills had 15 points and seven rebounds to lead the Aggies (3-7). North Carolina A&T missed 13 of its first 16 shots and finished the night 20 of 58. But the Aggies still were within two points with 4:07 remaining before Glasser hit his fifth 3-pointer.

After an offensive foul on Arizona States Jerren Shipp, the Aggies had the ball with 37 seconds left, down 69-66. Pendergraph blocked a shot and Trahern Chaplin missed a layup in the final 10 seconds.

Atuahene missed 10 of 16 free throws, but made 1-of-2 with 19.2 seconds left to put Arizona State ahead 70-66.

The Sun Devils will play the winner of Thursday's matchup between Ohio and Davidson in Friday's championship game.
