TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State University soccer team fell to visiting Oregon State, 2-1, in one overtime Friday night inside Sun Devil Soccer Stadium in the Pac-10 opener for both schools. The Sun Devils, who saw Carly Kallas score her first collegiate goal, slipped to 5-4-2 overall and 0-1-0 in Pac-10 action while the Beavers improved to 8-2-2 overall and 1-0-0 in league action.

After a scoreless first half of play, the Beavers broke the draw as Kelsey Provo scored in the 50th minute of play. Provo hit home a pass from Najma Homidi that was tipped by the ASU defense, giving the visitors the 1-0 lead.

The Sun Devils pressed for the equalizer and were rewarded in the 84th minute of play on a corner kick. After the kick from Michelle Deatherage was tipped out, Kylla Sjoman headed the ball back into the box where it bounced around a few times. There, Kallas was able to head home the goal to tie the score at one and force overtime. In the first extra session, however, Jetta Sadusky drove the ball into the box where she chipped a pass to Melissa Peck, who headed the ball into the net for the golden goal.

Keeper Kim Bingham recorded four saves in the match for the defense while eight different Sun Devils contributed to the team's 11 shots. The Sun Devils also were awarded seven corner kicks in the match.

The Sun Devils return to action Sunday at 1 p.m. when Oregon (7-5-0, 1-0-0 Pac-10) comes to Tempe following its 2-1 defeat of Arizona Friday night.
