The ninth ranked Arizona State University men's golf team finished in sixth place at the 2006 PING Preview held at the par-70, 6,809-yard Colonial Williamsburg Golden Horseshoe Golf Course. The Sun Devils shot a 12-over 852 (287-284-281). Florida captured the top spot after shooting a 6-under 834.
Leading ASU for the second straight week, senior All-American Niklas Lemke shot a 4-under 206 (67-70-69) to tie for third place. Lemke was tied for first place after the second round.
Sophomore All-American Benjamin Alvarado Holley tied for ninth place after shooting a career-low 67 in the final round to end with an even-par 210 (71-72-67). Sophomore Steele DeWald shot a 7-over 217 (77-69-71) to tie for 38th. DeWald's second round score of 69 was also a career low. Freshman Tristan Bierenbroodspot tied for 61st after shooting a 14-over 224 (77-73-74). Freshman James Dalthorp finished tied for 70th after shooting a 21-over 231 (72-78-81).
The Golden Horseshoe Golf Course will also play host to the 2007 NCAA Championship May 30-June 2.
