The 10th-seeded Arizona State University men's golf team fell in the first round of the 2006 Calloway Golf Collegiate Match Play Championship to seventh-seed Texas A&M (5-0-0).
The 12th-ranked Sun Devils moved on to the consolation round where they defeated 15th-seed Minnesota (2-1-2). Sophomore Steele DeWald and freshman Tristan Bierenbroodspot each won their matches over the Gophers.
Arizona State will take on sixth-seed Coastal Carolina in the second round of the consolation bracket.
Invitation to the tournament was based on last year's national championship finishes.
