TEMPE, Ariz. - Powered by a four-goal performance from Addison Doud, the No. 10 Arizona State University water polo team recorded a home victory over visiting No. 18 Cal State Northridge, 7-5, Saturday afternoon at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The win, which snapped the Sun Devils' three game losing slide, improved ASU's record to 11-6 overall on the year and 3-2 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) while the Matadors fell to 10-14 overall and 1-8 in the MPSF.

In a see-saw game, the Sun Devils struck first as rookie Doud found the back of the net just 15 seconds into the game for an early 1-0 lead. But, 15 seconds later, the Matadors struck back to tie the score at one. With 4:44 remaining in the first stanza, the Sun Devils again captured the lead as Doud scored once more, but, once again, CSUN would score less than one minute later to tie the score at two.

The second quarter mirrored the first as Tessa Wyborny put the hosts on top with her goal at 4:10 remaining, but the CSUN scored with 2:49 showing to send the game to the intermission tied at three. The third quarter proved to be the defining quarter for the Sun Devils as they scored three goals to CSUN's one. Doud scored on two occasions while Ashley Bower added a tally to bring the score to 6-4 with one quarter to play. Both teams traded goals in the fourth, first with the Matadors cutting the lead to one goal before Lindsay Williams added the final score.

In the goal, Caylinn Wallace recorded six saves while the Matador's Graziella Caredda recorded 12. The Sun Devils also met a tough defender in the goal itself as four shots hit off the cross bar with another two being deflected by the side post.

The Sun Devils return to action at home again Sunday as No. 1 USC invades Tempe for an 11 a.m. MPSF game.
