TEMPE, Ariz. - Three members of the Arizona State University track and field team competed at the Jim Click Combined Events meet in Tucson over the past two days with Jacquelyn Johnson winning the women's heptathlon while two men finished in the Top 12 of the decathlon.

Johnson, the 2004 heptathlon national champion, won the event by 312 points as she automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships with 5,797 points earned. After building a 383-point lead after day one, Johnson opened the second day by earning 786 points with a leap of 5.76m in the long jump to win the event. She followed that with 702 points after winning the javelin with a toss of 41.80m. In the final event of the day, the 800m run, she placed third at 2:25.70 to claim 748 points for her final total.

On the men's side, Joshua Kinnaman finished fourth overall and was the runner-up among collegiate entrants in the decathlon with an NCAA provisional point total of 7,331. After sitting in third place after day one, Kinnaman garnered 830 points in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.16 before taking 695 points in the discus for his throw of 41.51m. In the pole vault, Kinnaman cleared 4.30m for 702 points before taking 634 points in the javelin with a toss of 53.06m. In the final event, the 1,500m, Kinnaman ran 5:08.60 to grab 511 points.

Ryan Ehler also competed in the two-day decathlon and place 12th overall with a personal-best 5,779 points. Ehler scored 338 points in the 110m hurdles for his time of 20.14 before taking 655 points in the discus with a throw of 39.51m. He then cleared 4.10m in the pole vault for 645 points before taking 483 points in the javelin with a toss of 42.78m. He then closed out the day with a time of 6:01.96 in the 1,500m run for 256 points.

The Sun Devils also are competing in a home meet this weekend as the ASU Invitational continues Saturday with the field events leading off the competition at 10:30 a.m. with the women's discus while the running events starting at 5:30 p.m. with the short hurdles.
