SEATTLE, Wash. - The 2006 MPSF Indoor Track and Field Championships came to a close Saturday afternoon with three women and four men's events being won by members of the Arizona State University track and field team during the meet held at the Dempsey Indoor Facility in Seattle. Overall, the women placed second behind Stanford, scoring 115 points to the Cardinal's 161 while the ASU men finished sixth overall (66 points) as the host Huskies won the team title with 107 points.

The men saw Joshua Kinnaman set a facility record while winning the heptathlon as he recorded 5,603 points over two days to earn an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Kinnaman won the title despite finishing third in the 60m hurdles (8.48), tied for fourth in the pole vault (4.36m) and sixth in the 1,000m run (2:48.91). He was joined on the top step of the podium by Domenik Peterson, who won the 200m dash with a provisional time of 21.15 before joining with Jerry Jones, Chris Adams and Jimmie Gordon to win the 4x400m relay in 3:09.91, also a provisional qualifier. The final men's victory came in the field as Ryan Zimmerman took gold in the triple jump with the fourth-best mark in school history of 15.86m.

Christina Hardeman won the 400m event with a provisional time of 53.98 to lead the women in a 1-2-3 finish in the event. Latosha Wallace placed second (54.26) while Bridgette Williams (54.73) took third. The final victory for the women came in the shot put as Sarah Stevens captured the shot put with a mark of 16.55m.

Jenna Kingma clocked a 9:13.39 in the 3,000m run to not only finish third in the event, but her time, the second-fastest time in school history, also earned her an automatic berth into then NCAA meet. Behind her in the race were Amy Hastings (9:17.19, fifth) and Anna Masinelli (9:27.74, sixth), who recorded the third and fourth-fastest times in school history, respectively.

Other top finishers for the women included the 4x400m relay of Hardeman, Williams, Wallace and Shauntel Elcock, who placed second with a provisional mark of 3:38.03 while Jessica Pressley took third in the shot put with a mark of 16.25m. On the men's side, Kelvin Love Jr., finished sixth in the 200m dash (21.88); Peterson (46.77, 3rd), Adams (47.35, 5th) and Gordon (47.53, 6th) in the 400m dash; Aaron Aguayo place sixth in the mile (4:06.27) and Brandon Glenn placed seventh in the pole vault (5.06m).

Next weekend, several Sun Devils will travel to one of three different locations to compete in last chance meets as individuals will look to improve upon their marks and qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships in two weeks.
