TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 14 Arizona State women's tennis team continued their winning streak as they swept the Montana State Bobcats 7-0 in a dual played at Whiteman Center in Tempe, Ariz. Sweeping the doubles matches and winning all the singles matches in two sets, the Sun Devils are now 4-0 in the 2006 season.

The Sun Devils got things started off right as they easily swept the doubles matches. The number one doubles team of Roxanne Clarke (Cape Town, South Africa) and Laila Abdala (San Diego, Calif.) clinched their match against Montana States' Vera Vasileva and Allison Fey with a score of 8-1. At the number two spot, Wendy Pilecka (Pribram, Czech Republic) and Jessica Leitch (Dallas, Texas) fought off the Bobcat team of Nicole Luetolf and Nuria Lozano to win their match 8-5. The duo of Sabrina Capannolo (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) and Rebecca Rankin (Surrey, England) played a perfect match and effortlessly defeated Montana State's Katy Clarke and Lisa Clark 8-0 in the number three spot.

With every player defeating her opponent in two sets, the Sun Devils continued their domination in the singles competition. Playing in the No. 1 spot, Capannolo fought a tough second set to defeat Lozano 6-2, 6-2. At the No. 2 spot, Clarke handily defeated her opponent, Luetolf, 6-1, 6-0. Rankin kept the ball rolling as she overpowered Vasileva, 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 3 spot.

The Sun Devils looked equally impressive in the final three spots. Leitch battled off Montana State's in the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-1. Playing at the No. 5 spot freshman Abdala continued her winning streak, as she handily defeated Fey 6-2, 6-1. Her winning streak of seven is the team long so far this season. Freshman Erica Schweyer (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) defeated Clark 6-1, 6-0 to earn the Sun Devil's final point.

The Sun Devils host two more matches this weekend at the Whiteman Center. The Devils take on No. 49 Denver Saturday February 11 at noon and Cal Poly on Sunday at 10 a.m.
