TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Bryson Krueger scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half as Arizona State beat Northern Arizona 72-55 Thursday night in the championship game of the Sleep America ASU Hoops Classic.
Kevin Kruger added 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Sun Devils (6-3) as he earned tournament MVP honors.
Kyle Landry had 13 points and six rebounds for Northern Arizona (6-6).
Krueger hit a 3-pointer and had a three-point play on back-to-back possessions during a 10-0 run that gave Arizona State a 47-34 lead with 14:12 remaining.
The Lumberjacks closed to within 53-47 on Steven Sir's 3-pointer with 9:00 left but Krueger and Kruger each hit 3-pointers and Northern Arizona never got closer than nine.
Krueger missed all four of his shots in the first half but made 6-of-12 in the second half.
Sir finished with 12 points - all on 3-pointers - for the Lumberjacks, who committed 22 turnovers.
Arizona State has won its tournament 29 times in its 39-year history, including 13 of the last 17.
