Quoting UCSB Head Coach Bob Williams
"I was very concerned with our ability to execute offensively. We were horrendous on offense and shot the ball something like 33%. They came out in the second half and shot the ball at 55% on us. That was very good shooting on their part and we never responded to the challenge defensively. Although, [Kevin] Kruger made several shots over people. I did not like how we were playing, it was not very efficient."
"We didn't execute very well. We got some good shots out of ball movement and penetration, but we got nothing out of our offense because we didn't execute at a high level. My frustration is pretty high right now because Arizona State didn't take us out of our game much, we were just not mentally tough enough. We definitely have to get better at that in the coming weeks if we are going to win any games."
"Anytime that the opposing team is shooting only 30% at the half and you are only tied with them, you are in trouble. I thought that they did a nice job of getting ot the foul line and making their free throws in the first half. We were undisciplined defensively and got some silly fouls that gave them some more opportunities. But I thought that we gave up penetration to them, which was very frustrating, because it led to easy shots and lay-ups. Even when we were struggling offensively, our defensive tried to keep us in the game, but their penetration and free throws definitely hurt us."
