TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Amy Hastings placed sixth overall for the women and Casey Burchill 12th for the men as the Arizona State University cross country teams finished second and 17th, respectively, at the 2005 NCAA Pre-National Meet Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind., the site of the 2005 NCAA Championships (Nov. 21).

The women, ranked sixth in the current national polls, scored 96 points while No. 2 Michigan won the white race with 86 points. No. 5 Illinois finished behind the Sun Devil women with 117 points. On the men's side, No. 3 Colorado won the meet with 70 points while the No. 27 Sun Devils finished in 17th with 472 points.

Hastings led the charge for the women as she finished sixth overall, covering the 6,000m course in 20:40. She was followed by Anna Masinelli (10th at 20:44), Jenna Kingma (16th at 21:04) and Cassie Rios (29th at 21:15) with Corey Randall (35th at 21:21) rounding out the Top 5 and team scoring places. Rachel Ellison (40th at 21:38) and Whitney Hardt (116th at 22:21) completed the women's entrants for the Sun Devils.

Burchill was the overall men's leader as his time of 24:01 over the 8,000m course gave him a 12th place finish. Teammates Ryan Warrenburg (30th at 24:26), J.J. Duke (104th at 25:15), Roger Cahill (137th at 25:34) and Eric Dall (189th at 26:16) rounded out the Top 5 scorers for ASU while Velibor Radejovic (205th at 26:32) and Joey Heller (207th at 26:32) comprised the remaining ASU men in the race.

Following a weekend off from competition, the Sun Devils will return to action at the 2005 Pac-10 Conference Championships, set for Oct. 29 in Tucson, Ariz. The meet will be conducted on the Del Urich Golf Course on the Arizona campus.
