The Arizona State men's golf team finished tied for fourth at the NCAA West Regional and will advance to the NCAA Championship after shooting a final round 286 at the Stanford Golf Course. ASU (290-281-286) finished tied with UCLA at 17-over 857. Senior Pat Moore finished fifth and aced the 168-yard fourth hole on Saturday afternoon.
Moore, one of the hottest golfers in the country right now, has finished first, third and fifth in his past three tournaments after shooting 69-69-71 for a 1-under 209.
Jesse Mueller tied for 31st with a 6-over 216 (72-71-73) while two-time All-American Alejandro Canizares bounced back from an opening round 78 to finish at 7-over 217 (78-70-69) and tie for 39th.
Sophomore Niklas Lemke tied for 56th with a 9-over 219 (75-71-73) while Charly Simon tied for 80th with a 14-over 224 (74-73-77).
Pepperdine was the final team to qualify out of the top 10 scores as it won a tiebreaker over USC and South Carolina, as all three shot 24-over 864.
Rob Grube of Stanford won the event with a 6-under 204.
ASU will now compete at the NCAA Championships June 1-4 at Owings Mills, Md. The Sun Devils have won two national titles, as current head coach Randy Lein led the Sun Devils to the 1996 title while Steve Loy led ASU to the 1990 championship.
