The No. 21 ranked Arizona State University gymnastics team lost to unranked Stanford Friday, 195.3-191.575, in front of 944 fans at Burnham Pavilion in Palo Alto, Calif. ASU is now 6-5 on the season.
Natalie Foley of Stanford won the all-around with a score of 39.025. ASU's Cassandra Jusino, a sophomore, took second (38.95) while Alex Pintchouk of the Cardinal was third (38.725). Junior Ashley Kelly of ASU was fifth (38.675).
The Sun Devils scored a season low 47.4 on vault. Tricase scored a 9.875, placing first. Her teammate, Natalie Foley, was second (9.8) while Stephanie Gentry and Jusino of ASU tied for third (9.775). Stanford posted a team score of 48.675 on vault.
On uneven bars, ASU scored its second-lowest team total of the year, a 48.35. Kelly led all ASU bars performers with a 9.8, good for a tie for fourth-place. Stanford scored 49.225, led by Tracase's 9.95 (first-place) and Tabitha Yim's 9.925 (second). Foley was third (9.825).
Gentry recorded a 9.8 on the balance beam to earn meet honors. Junior Lauren Powell of ASU was second (9.75) followed by Stanford's Lauren Elmore and Aimee Precourt in a tie (9.725) for third. ASU again posted a season-low score of 47.675 on beam.
Tricase won her second event of the night on the floor exercise, with a brilliant 9.9. Kelly posted a 9.85 on the floor to take second. Jusino and Gentry tied for third (9.8). ASU scored a 48.15 as a team on floor. Stanford countered with a 48.975.
The Sun Devils play host to Penn State University Friday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena in the final home meet of the 2005 season.
