TEMPE, Ariz. - Members of the Arizona State University track and field team opened weekend competition Friday night at the Holiday Inn Team Invitational in Boise, Idaho, with several sprinters posting impressive marks on the day, including one automatic and four provisional qualifiers.

Domenik Peterson led the way on the men's side as he recorded ASU's first NCAA automatic berth this season, winning the preliminary round of the 200m dash in 20.75. Also in that event, Seth Amoo placed second in 20.95, marking the second-fastest time in school history as he became just the second runner to break the 21-second barrier in the history of the program. Freshman Kelvin Love sits four at 21.22, also meeting the provisional standard for the national indoor meet.

Steven Koehnemann (6.78) and Amoo (6.79) sit third and fourth, respectively, in the 60m dash while Marquis Profit stands 13th in the 60m hurdles (8.72). In the field, Trevell Quinley finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 7.13m, but did not place in the high jump after failing to clear a height.

On the women's side, Porchea Carroll earned a provisional standard in the long jump as she finished second overall at 6.10m. In the track events, Carrroll is third (7.50) and Kandace Tucker (7.61) fourth in the 60m dash while Tucker leads the way in the 200m dash with a provisional-meeting time of 23.69 while Cassandra Reed sits eighth at 24.98.

Competition at the Holiday Inn Invitational concludes Saturday afternoon while other members of the team compete in the Husky Invitational, hosted by Washington, in Seattle.
