STANFORD, Calif. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- The No. 12 Stanford Cardinal swept the Arizona State Sun Devils in straight sets Friday night in Pac-10 Volleyball action at Burnham Pavilion. Game scores were 30-21, 30-21, 30-12 in favor of the Cardinal.

Arizona State ended its first weekend of Pac-10 competition with a pair of losses against the nationally ranked Cardinal (#12) and California Golden Bears (#16) to fall to 5-5 overall and 0-2 in league play. Stanford improved to 9-2 overall and swept the Arizona schools to start the Pac-10 season 2-0.

Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Morton (Bonsall, Calif.) led the Sun Devils with 10 kills. She registering her fifth straight and eighth overall match this year with double digits in kills. Freshman middle blocker Colette Meek (Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada) led the Sun Devils with five blocks, continuing a trend that has seen the freshman record three or more blocks in all 10 matches this season (1.38 bpg).

2004 Olympian and defending Pac-10 Player of the Week Ogonna Nnamani led the Cardinal with 17 kills on a .364 attack percentage (17-5-33). Sophomore outside hitter Kristin Richards added 14 kills and eight digs in the victory.

The Sun Devils (5-5, 0-2 Pac-10) return home next weekend to face defending national champion and second-ranked USC (Oct. 1, 7 p.m.) and No. 10 UCLA (Oct. 2, 7 p.m.) at Wells Fargo Arena.
