The men's golf team finished fourth at the 2004 NCAA Division I West Regional held at Sunriver, Ore., earning a spot in the NCAA Championships June 1-4 in Hot Springs, Va.
ASU (288-287-297) shot a 9-over 873 for the tournament and finished behind UCLA (865), New Mexico (866) and Arizona (872). The top 10 teams advance to the NCAA Championships from the 27-team field.
Six Pac-10 teams advanced, as UCLA, Arizona, ASU, USC, Cal and Washington all will play for the NCAA title. ASU will enter the tournament with four tournament victories.
Individually, Chez Reavie led ASU with a 1-over 217 (73-73-71) as he tied for 13th. Junior Jesse Mueller tied for 21st with a 3-over 219 (70-70-79), while sophomore and 2003 NCAA champion Alejandro Canizares tied for 21st with a 4-over 220 (70-71-79).
Freshman Niklas Lemke tied for 54th at 7-over 223 (74-75-74), while Mike Derminio tied for 57th at 9-over 225 (73-78-74).
There were 141 players competing in the West Regional Championship.
