SALINAS, Calif. - The Arizona State women's golf team wrapped up play at the Spartan Invitational on Wednesday afternoon, finishing in sixth place after three rounds of play in two days at the Corral de Tierra Country Club. The team shot a combined 907 (303-304-300=907, +43) for the tournament with sophomore Alissa Kuczka (Phoenix, Ariz.) leading the way for ASU at five-over par.
Kuczka shot an even-par 72 on the final day (75-74-72=221) to help her into a tie for 12th place. Also finishing in the top-20 for the Sun Devils was freshman Tiffany Tavee (Gilbert, Ariz.) who tied for 19th at nine-over (73-78-74=225).
Freshman Charmaine Erasmus (Bradenton, Fla.) tied for 29th (75-75-79=229) at 13-over with junior Erin Tone (Gilbert, Ariz.) in 54th (84-77-75=236) at 20-over and freshman Lindsay Anderson (El Paso, Texas) in 73rd (80-86-80=246) at 30-over. The team title in Salinas was won by UCLA with an impressive team effort of a six-under-par 858 (294-279-285=858) to win by 21 strokes. The Bruins' Charlotte Mayorkas took top individual honors after carding a five-under (72-67-72=211) for the tournament.
The women's golf team is in action next at the Betsy Rawls Invitational March 22-24, in Austin, Texas.
