Sun Devil Alejandro Canizares, the 2003 NCAA champion, shot an even-par 71 Tuesday in the 2004 PING-Arizona Intercollegiate held at Arizona National Country Club at Sabino Springs. Canizares finished the tournament with a 7-under 206 and tied for seventh place to lead ASU. Senior Chez Reavie finished 11th after shooting a 1-over 72 for the day and 4-under 209 overall.
Arizona State finished third in the tournament with a 9-under 843. Arizona shot a 28-under 824 to win the tournament. New Mexico finished second with an 18-under 834. USC finished fourth and Wake Forest rounded out the top five.
Arizona's Chris Nallen won the tournament after shooting an 18-under 195. Michael Putnam of Pepperdine finished second with a 13-under 200. Bill Haas of Wake Forest, Spencer Levin of New Mexico and Peter Tomasulo of California finished tied for third with an 11-under 202.
