TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Southern California squandered a 12-point, second-half deficit, but Desmon Farmer picked up the slack in overtime and the Trojans hung to beat Arizona State 93-84 on Saturday night.
Farmer scored 10 of his 25 points in the extra period, negating the loss of Errick Craven, who tallied a season-high 26 points before fouling out in the first minute of overtime.
Jeff McMillan helped pace USC (10-12, 5-8 Pac-10) with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Gregg Guenther Jr. marked a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards.
For Arizona State (9-13, 3-10), Ike Diogu scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds on a night that was cut short when he fouled out with 3:44 left in overtime. Kevin Kruger added a career-high 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting from three-point range, and Jason Braxton had 14 points and seven assists.
The Trojans took control in overtime on quick baskets by McMillan and Farmer, and went 12 for 14 from the line in the closing two minutes to seal the deal. They finished the game 41.9 percent from the field, but were 32 for 40 from the line.
Down by two points with 38 seconds remaining, USC forced overtime when Nick Curtis scored on a putback. Kevin Kruger, an 81.3 percent free-throw shooter, missed his first of two attempts from the line on Arizona State's previous possession. It gave the Trojans just enough breathing room to tie, and eventually win, the game.
