TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Ike Diogu scored 21 points, matched a career-best with 18 rebounds and blocked a career-best seven shots to lead Arizona State past Santa Clara 68-63 Wednesday night.
Diogu was 7-of-13 from the field and grabbed 17 defensive rebounds as the Sun Devils (9-1) held the Broncos' to 35 percent field goal shooting (23 of 66).
The seven blocks is the most blocks by a Sun Devil since Rodger Farrington had a school-record eight vs. Houston Baptist on Dec. 10, 1996. He now has 103 swats in his career, just the fifth ASU player to reach the century mark.
Santa Clara (7-5) missed shots in the final minute after getting within 66-63 with 25.4 seconds remaining on Ethan Rhode's 3-pointer.
But Arizona State made two of four free throws and Kyle Bailey was called for traveling with 14 seconds left to keep the Broncos from getting any closer.
Bailey led Santa Clara with 22 points while Travis Niesen added 14.
Steve Moore had 12 points and Serge Angounou added 11 for the Sun Devils, who have won seven straight for the first time since the 1980-81 season.
