TEMPE, Ariz. -- UCLA's Crystal James hit the game-winning goal with 88:27 showing on the clock to lift the fifth-ranked Bruins (12-5-0; 5-2-0 Pac-10) to a 1-0 win over Arizona State (7-8-1; 3-2-1 Pac-10) in a very evenly played Pac-10 match on Friday night at the Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.

With time running out, the Bruins made one last run up the field as Danesha Adams crossed the ball to a breaking James who nailed the shot into a nearly empty net from about 15 yards out to seal the win.

Both teams had early scoring chances in the first half and early in the second, but both goalkeepers made nice saves to preserve the scoreless game. ASU's Kim Bingham made several spectacular saves both with her feet and hands.

All offensive statistics were nearly identical as UCLA held a 12-11 shot edge, while Bruins' goalkeeper Valerie Henderson made seven saves to Bingham's eight. ASU held a five to four lead in corner kicks.

Brittany Cooper led the Devils with four shots, while UCLA's James also tallied four shots.

Up next, the Devils will play their final home game of the season and say goodbye to six seniors when USC comes to Tempe on Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. kick.
