TEMPE, Ariz. -- Two-time defending NCAA champion USC defeated Arizona State in straight sets (30-21, 30-28, 30,21) Friday night in Pac-10 Volleyball action at Wells Fargo Arena in front of a crowd of 1,115.

In the second game, the Sun Devils (5-6, 0-3 Pac-10) had a chance to beat No. 3 USC (7-2, 2-1 Pac-10) in a game for the first time since 2000. But USC stormed back from a 27-21 deficit to win the game and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Morton (Bonsall, Calif.) led the Devils with 13 kills and 13.5 points. She also added seven digs. Colette Meek (Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada) recorded seven kills for ASU and tied for the team lead with two blocks. Freshman libero and southern California native Sydney Donahue (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) led the Devils with 14 digs. Freshman setter Rachel Mittelstaedt (Phoenix, Ariz.) tallied 30 assists for ASU.

All-American middle blocker Bibiana Candelas (Torreon, Mexico) led the Women of Troy with 17 kills and added five block assists to finish with 19.5 points. Phoenix native Emily Adams recorded 13 kills and led USC with three solo blocks. Kimi Freeburg (New Castle, Ind.) and Allison Dillon (Long Beach, Calif.) had 23 and 20 assists respectively. Keao Burdine (Pico Rivera, Calif.) added eight kills and a team high 15 digs for the Women of Troy.

ASU will host No. 10 UCLA (8-3, 1-1 Pac-10) Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena at 7 p.m.
