TEMPE, Ariz. - Despite two home runs from Valerie Sevilla, the 24th-ranked Arizona State softball team (30-16; 0-2 Pac-10) could not hold a 3-0 lead and eventually fell to No. 7 Washington (26-7; 2-0 Pac-10), 8-5, Sunday afternoon at Farrington Stadium.

Just like Saturday night, the Devils struck first with a single run in the first inning. With one out, Kristin Farber laced her second triple of the year down the left field line. Phelan Wright then hit a high pop up to the UW shortstop, but she dropped the ball allowing Farber to come home.

ASU then went up 3-0 in the third inning when Sevilla drilled the first of her two home runs of the day, a two-run shot over the center field fence. However it was short lived as UW came back with three unearned runs in the fourth to tie the game.

After Kristen Rivera waked to open the inning off ASU starter Bre DeSanta (9-6), Dena Tyson slapped a ground ball to Wright at third, but Wright's throw to second to force out Rivera went wide and into right field allowing Rivera to advance to third and Tyson to second. Kathy Fiske followed with double to left to plate both runners and Rita Roach singled to drive in Jessica Wilkinson who pinch ran for Fiske.

Ashley Boek (17-4) and DeSanta did not allow another run until the seventh inning when Tyson singled in one run with the bases loaded and Fiske followed with a grand slam to give the Huskies the 7-3 lead.

ASU tried to make a come back in the bottom of the seventh with two outs when Sevilla hit her second two-run home run of the day to cut the UW lead to 8-5. But Boek got Farber to strikeout to end the game.

DeSanta went the distance, allowing eight hits and eight runs, only four earned with seven strikeouts. Boek scattered six hits and gave up five runs, four earned with 10 strikeouts.

Sevilla ended the game going 2 for 4 with two home runs, two runs scored and four RBIs. Sevilla is now tied for the team lead with Wright in home runs with 12.

Up next, the Devils will host Arizona in two-game series Friday-Saturday both at 7:00 p.m.
