TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State track and field competed in two events Friday night with several members of the squad heading to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Foods Invitational while the others competed in the Boise State Holiday Inn Invitational in Boise, Idaho. Ten Sun Devils turned in several speedy performances at the Tyson event while results from the Boise meet were not available.

In Fayetteville, four women and six men competed in nine total events with six provisional marks recorded. On the women's side, Cassandra Reed (Jr., Avondale, Ariz.) finished eighth in the 400m dash (invitational) at 54.45 to met the provisional standard. Reed then joined Christina Hardeman (So., Sunnyvale, Calif.), Tinishia Johnson (So., Reno, Nev.) and Kandace Tucker (So., Irving, Texas) in the 4x400m relay in which the Sun Devils place fourth overall. Their time of 3:39.78 also met the provisional standards set by the NCAA. Also competing for the women, but not earning provisional marks were Tucker in the 200m dash (14th at 24.01), Hardeman in the open 400m dash (34th at 56.68) and Johnson in the long jump (6th at 5.80m/19-00.50).

On the men's side of the action at the Tyson event, four provisional standards were met with two each coming in the 200m and 400m dashes. In the 200m event, Seth Amoo (Jr., Palmdale, Calif.) clocked a 21.10 to place seventh while freshman Domenik Peterson (Jefferson City, Mo.) took ninth at 21.17. Peterson's mark is an improvement on the second-fastest time in school history, previously set at 21.18 two weeks ago. In the 400m dash (invitational), Lewis Banda (So., Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) took fourth in 46.87 with Jason Barton (Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.) coming in fifth at 46.98. Steve Fitch (Sr., San Ramon, Calif.) competed in the open 400m dash (15th at 47.67) and Steve Koehnemann (Fr., Chandler, Ariz.) ran in the 60m dash (25th at 6.86) to round out the men.

Action continues at both the Tyson Foods Invitational and the Holiday Inn Invitational Saturday while the third division of the Sun Devil team competes in the Pac-10 Indoor Invitational in Seattle, Wash. The following week, Arizona State will combine into one team and compete at the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo., Feb. 21.
