The Arizona State men's golf team is in first after two rounds of the three-round Tucker Intercollegiate held at the Championship Course in Albuquerque, N.M. ASU is at 8-under 568, while host New Mexico trails by 10 shots at 578. ASU shot a 6-under 282 in the morning round and followed that with a 2-under 286 in the afternoon.
ASU was led by 2003 NCAA champion Alejandro Canizares, who is at 5-under 139, including an opening round of 67. Canizares is just two shots off the lead. All of ASU's golfers are in the top 31.
The 20 teams will play a final round on Saturday. The Sun Devils entered the tournament ranked fifth in the nation by Golf World, sixth by Golfweek and are eighth in the Precept Coaches Poll.
